Bitcoin Demanded in Bomb Threats to Schools

Last week in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, bomb threats were made to multiple schools. The threats, which were received via email, demanded the Bitcoin alternate currency or else explosives would be detonated at various schools. Schools targeted with this threat included public, private, and Catholic so this was not a channeled threat because of religion or personal agenda.

The police have concluded that these threats are not legitimate, although they are continuing to investigate the situation. The threat is not taken lightly and school boards and personal are working closely with police by patrolling school areas, and having officers present at the schools. Parents and students of the targeted schools were also notified of the situation.

Investigating the bomb threats will continue; the police won’t let the case rest until the source is found and action can be taken against the offenders.
